New History Book Highlights Medical Cannabis Movement

If you have ever wanted to know the history of the medical cannabis movement, this is the book for you.

Adapted from the 1998 autobiography by Robert C. Randall and Alice M. O’Leary, Marijuana Rx, The Early Years brings alive a time in America when medical use of cannabis was literally unknown. This is the story of the heroic pioneers who paved the way for today’s medical cannabis industry.

Tampa, FL . . . Project 50 has announced the electronic publication (ePub) of an important cannabis history book, Marijuana Rx, The Early Years (1976- 1996): The Story of the American Medical Marijuana Movement. The book is available in all electronic publication formats— including Kindle and Google Play—at your favorite ePub provider.

Marijuana Rx, The Early Years, is an updated version of the highly acclaimed Marijuana Rx: The Patients’ Fight for Medicinal Pot which was published 25 years ago in 1998. It tells the autobiographical story of Robert C. Randall (1948-2001) and Alice O’Leary Randall who founded the medical marijuana movement in 1976. For two decades Robert and Alice doggedly pursued reform of the laws prohibiting medical access to cannabis. Their efforts, together with hundreds of patients with whom they worked over the years, paved the path directly to California’s Prop 215 and the remarkable journey of medical cannabis from pariah to mainstream medicine.

“It has been truly exciting to convert our 1998 analog book into ePub format." said co-author Alice. "In addition to pictures, readers will find many, many links that take them to videos, news articles, court decisions, legal briefs, and online research studies. I’m certain that everything which can possibly be linked has an active link, including Robert’s appearances on Good Morning America in 1977 and Larry King Live in 1988.”

The book is a perfect lynchpin for Alice’s new endeavor, Project 50, which celebrates the early days of the medical cannabis movement (1976-1996). “Now there is a convenient way to have the history of the medical cannabis movement literally in the palm of your hand,” says Alice, “I want our current patients, activists, reformers, clinicians, cultivators, chemists, budsters, entrepreneurs, and consumers to know how precious this medicine is and what was sacrificed to get us to this point we enjoy today.”

Marijuana Rx, The Early Years (1976-1996) will be a tool for the new Project 50. “For less than the cost of a large pizza, folks can add this to their canna- library.” Alice adds. “These stories are inspiring and will make you proud to be a part of this remarkable movement.”
